The Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation is a division of the K - 12 Schools Branch of NLSchools, and has been in existence since 2001. CDLI's mandate includes developing and delivering senior high school distance education programming to students attending high schools in rural, remote, and isolated regions of the province, resource and technical support for the delivery of online teacher professional learning, and overseeing K-12 technology integration initiatives. We believe that learners should have equitable access to educational opportunities in a manner that renders distance transparent. Our day-to-day operations reflect that belief.

Please note that all requests for CDLI courses and services originate from the student's zoned school. CDLI's mandate is to provide students attending high schools in rural and remote areas of Newfoundland and Labrador with equitable access to courses that cannot be delivered on-site. Like in a face-to-face school, these courses are synchronous. Students attend their zoned school, where they sign in to classes and engage in learning and assessment activities with their e-teacher and other students across Newfoundland and Labrador. 

Registration occurs for school administrators in the spring for CDLI courses being delivered the following September. Families cannot request CDLI course registration directly through CDLI.
