Mid-October, students at Newtown Elementary learned that one of their own had placed among the top students in a poster contest sponsored by the Knights of Columbus throughout North America. Grade 6 student Noelle Lamb of Mt. Pearl created a poster for the 2016-17 Knights of Columbus Alcohol Abuse Poster Contest and was among some 10,000 youth to get involved. During the Thanksgiving Day Assembly at the school, Knights of Columbus State Deputy Brian Hurley presented Noelle with the Supreme Award for her efforts; one of six young people to recieve awards through this year's contest.
