Young environmentalists at C.C. Loughlin Elementary in Corner Brook are doing all they can to ensure that thousands of plastic bags are kept out of our local landfills. Students have come on board this year with the Plastic Bag Grab Challenge, which saw upwards of 15,000 bags collected last year through the efforts of school staff. This year, the students have already more than doubled that total... and they still have more than two weeks to go until the end of their efforts.

West coast newspaper, The Wester Star, sent reporter Gary Kean to speak with the students about the reasons why they care and what everyone should be doing to keep our communities clean.
