The following statement is being released on behalf of Goronwy Price, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District:

"On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District I would like to offer best wishes for Education Week 2017. During this week our schools take time to acknowledge the significant work undertaken by educators and also celebrate the importance of education. Teachers work tirelessly to promote positive learning environments and ensure each student is able to achieve to the best of their ability. The efforts of educators also extend well beyond the classroom and school hours as they spend significant amounts of time and energy providing extra help to students, coaching, organizing and mentoring."

"This week is also Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week and in this light I would like to thank the many dedicated staff throughout our district who support our schools and the development of our students. It truly takes an entire school staff working together to help meet the expectations of a school community and allow our students to fulfill their potential. Every member of the school staff plays an integral role in making this a reality and ensuring school is a positive and welcoming place to be for all students."

"I encourage all members of our school communities to take a moment this week to demonstrate their gratitude to the teachers and support staff that make our schools places of growth and academic excellence. We truly are indebted to them for their efforts and this week is a wonderful time to show them in some small way how much we appreciate their continued dedication."
