Program Development Specialist – Restorative Justice Coordinator

DUTIES:

Reporting to the Director, this position will provide leadership in the implementation of school safety initiatives, with a dedicated focus on embedding restorative justice strategies as per the Safe and Caring Schools policy within the school system. This may include the preparation of support documents, and the development of competency based professional learning and mentoring models.

This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with internal and external stakeholders including other government departments, school staff and family of schools teams, and professional organizations to design and evaluate school safety professional learning initiatives that support the diverse needs of students in K-12 education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of school safety initiatives.
• Lead the design and delivery of high-quality professional learning initiatives to support educators and other school professionals.
• Collaborate with other divisions within the Department of EECD and with external partners to develop coordinated implementation plans and policies that promote safe, caring, inclusive learning environments.
• Foster strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including educators, health professionals, government agencies, and community organizations.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of services by identifying emerging needs, analyzing data, and integrating evidence-based practices.
• Perform other related duties as required to support the strategic goals of Education Operations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree required.
• Graduate degree required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience working within educational settings.
• Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• Restorative Justice
• Inclusive Education Practices
• Mental Health and Wellness
• Behavioural Interventions and Supports

This position requires the incumbent to hold a valid teaching certificate issued by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. The successful candidate must be employed on a continuous contract basis with NLSchools or the Conseil Scolaire Francophone Provincial and be able to be seconded from their current position in accordance with the provisions of the NLTA collective agreement.
