Full time term position for a Student Success Teacher. Duties to commence September 2, 2025 to June 26, 2026.

As a Student Success Teacher, you are committed to furthering the NLSchools' goals for student success in an inclusive, safe and caring environment. You subscribe to a "students first" philosophy in your practice and believe that collaboration is key for your growth as an educator. 

Candidates require a strong knowledge of the intermediate and/or senior high curriculum while providing escalating levels of intervention through direct instructional support such as course recovery and course rescue. 

As a Student Success Teacher, your work will focus on your application of the 7 Determinants of the School Development Model which are: Wellness and Positive Relationships; Optimal Learning Environments; Instructional Practice; Assessment Practices; Collective Efficacy; Evidence-based Decision Making, and Teachers as Learners.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Successful teaching practice with engaging students in the areas of academic and social-emotional learning 
  • Successful experience with leveraging technology 
  • A student centered approach 
  • Positive relationship skills with all stakeholders 
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills 
  • A high degree of motivation to engage students and support learning 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Education - Secondary Methods 
  • Equivalencies will be considered

SALARY AND INCENTIVES: 

  • Annual Teacher Salary Scale contained within the NLTA Provincial Collective Agreement and benefits contained within the agreement.
  • Please note, the following incentives are PRO-RATED if a teacher works less than a full contract or on periods of unpaid leave.
  • A taxable $2040.00 annual Isolation Allowance paid to all Labrador teachers on a b-weekly basis. Please refer to Article 24.02 of the Collective Agreement.
  • A taxable Labrador and Travel Allowance calculated based on school location and dependants. The bonus is prorated if a teacher works less than a full school year or if not full time.  Please follow the link for details or refer to Collective Agreement. 
  • For those that need to relocate, a One Time Only Round Trip Travel Claim in and out of the school community to your home location during the first year, to a maximum of $1700.00. One travel claim is paid upon arrival to the community through the travel claim system and the other paid at the end of the school year when you arrive home.

Applicants without the required qualifications may be considered in accordance with Clause 37.01 (d) of the provincial collective agreement.

If Interview Required: Please note that candidates designated as Highly Recommended and Recommended in 2023 or 2024 individual or pool competitions will have that designation carried over for 2025 and will not require an interview for similar positions.  

Interviews that occur during this hiring season will be designated as Recommendable or Not Recommendable at this time.  Thus, going forward, the Recommendable designation will carry over and will equal the Highly Recommendable that will be phased out.
