JOB TEXT: | Budget Analyst Temporary Full time (35 hours per week) Location: Confederation Building, West Block (St. John's) Salary Scale: (CG 28): $26.92 - $29.80 per hour Bargaining Unit Position (CUPE 1560) Duties: Reporting to the Manager of Budgeting, the Budget Analyst is responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of all aspects of the NLSchools budget. The successful candidate will maintain the integrity of corporate budget data and related information systems, ensuring that detailed budgets, analyses, reports, recommendations, and approvals are retained in an orderly state. The Budget Analyst will perform budget support activities that ensure NLSchools offices and schools operate within approved allocations and in accordance with approved spending guidelines, thereby ensuring that spending occurs in a highly cost-effective manner that supports achievement of NLSchools and the Department of Education?s strategic goals and objectives. This position requires some degree of judgment and the ability to formulate recommendations and fiscal strategies. In supporting the Manager of Budgeting, the Budget Analyst is responsible for:
Qualifications: Candidates must possess a detailed knowledge of budget preparation and monitoring procedures; have a strong knowledge of accounting software; computerized accounting processes; a thorough knowledge of office procedures; a strong background in a computerized working environment, including the MS Office and Google Suite; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; strong oral and written communication skills; analytical and organizational abilities; and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as part of a team. These qualifications would normally be acquired through completion of a two or three year diploma in Business Administration (with a concentration in accounting) supplemented by a minimum of three years directly related experience. Equivalencies may be considered. Additional Information:
