Position Overview:

We are seeking a Transportation Supervisor to oversee student transportation services at the Gander Bus Depot within the Central Region. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of transportation services, including bus maintenance, cleaning, repairs, and route scheduling. The supervisor will lead a team of bus drivers and repair technicians and ensure all depot operations run smoothly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily operations at the Gander Bus Depot, including vehicle maintenance, cleaning, repairs, and route coordination.
     
  • Directly manage bus drivers and repair technicians, providing guidance, support, and performance oversight.
     
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, the Highway Traffic Act, and the Public Procurement Act.
     
  • Enforce transportation policies and procedures to maintain high safety and service standards.
     
  • Manage fleet assets, preventive maintenance schedules, vehicle and driver records, and inventory.
     
  • Work with the Human Resources Division and the Regional Manager to assist in recruitment, performance evaluations, attendance and leave management, and professional development for depot staff.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A diploma or degree in Business Administration or a Journeyperson's Certificate in Heavy Duty, Automotive, or Commercial Transport Mechanics.
     
  • A minimum of two years' supervisory experience, ideally in transportation or logistics.
     
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication (both written and verbal), and leadership skills.
     
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including OH&S Legislation and the Highway Traffic Act.
     
  • A valid driver's license is required, along with a willingness to obtain both a Class 9 air brake endorsement and a Class 2 bus driver's license.
     
  • Equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Salary Scale (HL-15): $55,356 - $71,963
