Full time permanent  French Classroom Teacher with Other Intermediate Teaching Duties position. Duties to commence September 2, 2025. 

As a French second language teacher you will have a critical role in ensuring student achievement as specified in the curriculum guides of French programs. As a french teacher, your work will be guided by the  application of the 7 Determinants of the School Development Model which are: Wellness and Positive Relationships; Optimal Learning Environments; Instructional Practice; Assessment Practices; Collective Efficacy; Evidence-based Decision Making, and Teachers as Learners.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and understanding of the outcomes and specific content expertise and second language teaching methodology.
• Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge, experience and commitment to ensure culturally relevant instruction and assessment for all students. 
• The ability to balance language instruction with content delivery. 
• Demonstrated ability of an accurate and fluent linguistic model to ensure a language rich learning environment. 
• Ability to ensure and facilitate authentic interactive strategies for the progressive development of French second language learning. 
• Knowledge and experience in appropriate second language literacy development through a variety of differentiated strategies and resources. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Education - Secondary with French Major
• Minimum of B2 DELF Assessment (70% overall average with no less than 60% minimum in all 4 components)
• French First Language applicants may be considered
• Equivalencies will be considered

Annual Teacher Salary Scale contained within the NLTA Provincial Collective Agreement and benefits contained within the agreement.   

Applicants without the required qualifications may be considered in accordance with Clause 37.01 (d) of the provincial collective agreement.

If Interview Required: Please note that candidates designated as Highly Recommended and Recommended in 2023 or 2024 individual or pool competitions will have that designation carried over for 2025 and will not require an interview for similar positions. Interviews that occur during this hiring season will be designated as Recommendable or Not Recommendable at this time.  Thus, going forward, the Recommendable designation will carry over and will equal the Highly Recommendable that will be phased out.
