PUBLIC ADVISORY More Routes Resume as District Makes Progress on Busing Service

The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District continues to restore busing service to schools impacted by the service interruption announced on February 11.

Following two days of weather closures, select runs are resuming for a number of impacted schools in the St. John’s Metro region. Numerous runs originally scheduled to resume on Tuesday are noted in the advisory attached below with an asterix, as the resumption date has been adjusted to Thursday, February 16. Additional runs for Holy Spirit, Topsail Elementary, and Villanova Junior High will also resume service Thursday and are bolded in the advisory linked below and identified with resumption dates. School names bolded in the attached chart are no longer anticipated to be impacted.

Due to weather-related delays and unforeseen circumstances, alternate transportation services scheduled to resume tomorrow have been delayed. School staff have been in direct contact with the impacted families and a new resumption date will be shared when available.  

District staff will continue work to restore services and, as resources become available, service may be implemented earlier for some schools prior to the anticipated Monday, February 20 timeline. In the meantime, families are being asked to make arrangements for transportation to and from school.

The District extends its appreciation to school staff, communities, busing contractors, and drivers for working with us through these challenging circumstances. We continue to remind the general public to be careful when travelling through school zones, particularly in the areas near the schools listed below.
