The Board of Trustees of the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District held a public meeting on Saturday, August 11 to discuss a number of items in preparation for the upcoming school year. The meeting, held at the District Conference Centre in St. John’s, was broadcast live on the District website.  

Trustees were pleased to note the new Teacher and Learning Assistant (TLA) positions have been established in anticipation of the upcoming school year. The TLA positions are a result of a recommendation made by the Premier’s Task Force on Improving Educational Outcomes, and the subsequent Education Action Plan, released by the Provincial Government in July. In the first phase of implementation, 53 TLAs will begin working with students this September in select District schools.
